Must-see artworks at the Reina Sofía Museum you will discover
During the guided tour, we analyse historical context, artistic movements, technique, and symbolism to understand how some of the most influential works of contemporary art emerged. These works help to understand the evolution of art from the early avant-garde movements to modernity, as well as the impact of historical events such as the Spanish Civil War on artistic creation.
Throughout the tour, you will discover in depth some of the museum’s most important pieces:
Guernika by Pablo Picasso
A World by Ángeles Santos
Surrealist paintings by Salvador Dalí
Poetic and abstract compositions by Joan Miró
Great female artists at the Reina Sofía Museum
The Reina Sofía Museum is also a key space for understanding the role of many artists who renewed the artistic language of the 20th century and who were left out of major art history narratives for decades. During the visit, we highlight fundamental female figures who contributed to transforming modern painting in Spain and Europe, such as:
Ángeles Santos
Maruja Mallo
María Blanchard
Remedios Varo

We very much enjoyed her approach and we learned a lot!Publicado en Tripadvisor 737WingMan14/05/2026Verificada Phenomenal guide with a good sense of humor. Our guide Maria was terrific. She was well organized and with everyone showing up on time we were able to start a little early. The young lady really knows her stuff. She was well versed on the Spanish history, the artists and the painting techniques they used. There were a couple paintings she shared that really demonstrated the breakthrough technique of perspective that was developed in the later years of the Renaissance. She handled the group well, kept us together and engaged, and demonstrated her extensive knowledge as well as a good sense of humor.Publicado en Tripadvisor WJC45912/05/2026Verificada Great guide with some interesting insights into the styles and history of the paintings and the background to the Prado.
